"Sporting With Carnival" Only In Vernon BC !

This week is the beginning Vernon Winter Carnival is coming up and brings us a variety of events. There are some pre-carnival events coming up in the next week like the Proclamation of Queen Silver Star and the 39^th Annual Best decorated Premises contest. The official kick off is on February the 3^rd with at least 9 events happening all over town on that day alone! If you like food, arts, hot air balloons, dance, winter sports, snow, music or movies there is an event for you. Did you miss some events last year like the beautiful Hot Air balloon shows, the great Snow Sculpture Competition, the Winter Carnival Parade, a Vipers hockey game, the Broomball tournament or the Appetizers and Art event? This is your chance to enjoy one or more of these amazing events this year. And if you have never met the Carnival mascot’s Jopo and Jopette or the button man make sure you will meet them this year!

Anticipating February in Vernon!

You won’t want to miss it!

Vernon BC is beginning to bustle with Vernon Winter Carnival activities that begin February3rd. It seems this time of year is literally the calm before the storm. February begins with the giants in the air as hot air balloons float lazily above the City signifying Winter Carnival here has officially begun! Nearly every day and evening for two weeks there is an exciting event and nearly all Vernon businesses and organizations participate. I am sure that almost everyone that lives here is touched in some way by the excitement.
Soon after that February 23-26 hundreds of athletes will begin arriving as Vernon plays host to the 2012 Greater Vernon Winter Games! All of Vernon and the surrounding area are anticipating this monumental event. The Winter Games office at 3011 31^stavenue is seeing more traffic as the locals want to get more involved. Ideally most of us will volunteer and play a role as literally hundreds of people are needed to host this large event. I am guessing that at the end of 2012 we will all sit around with our feet up fondly remembering this month feeling proud of our moment to shine!   

Busy In Vernon BC!

January activities are in high gear in Vernon BC! With Christmas behind us we are all looking for activities to work off the Christmas turkey. Vernon offers many exciting activities for any interest! Skating indoors or outside, skiing cross country or downhill day or night, hiking, tubing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, tobogganing, snow machining the list is endless. As well the bottom of the valley still offers great hiking and walking adventures due to the higher elevation of the snow this being one of the benefits of our location. We absolutely have something for everyone so why not “Make Vernon Yours “?
